In the spring of 2022, Butler County Concern Citizens hosted a youth trip to the Alabama State University Teaching Garden in Montgomery, Alabama. Close to 50 youth from the Butler County community attended and had the opportunity to learn about agricultural sustainability and the nutritional benefits of fresh produce in an interactive day of hands-on engagement. Inspired and moved by the success of the trip, Mrs. Annie Jean Simmons-Mann generously donated nearly an acre of land to BCCC to start our own garden. From there, the Butler County Community Youth garden was born.

The purpose of the Butler County Concern Citizens Community Youth Garden is to serve as a space for education about agricultural and horticultural practices and to provide healthy and organic produce for the Butler County area, which is categorized as food desert.
